Timeline of the partnership with NUIST-17³Ô¹Ï Academy
- 2011: BSc Chemistry joint programme approved by Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE)
- 2014: BSc Business Economics and Trade joint programme approved by Chinese MoE
- 2015: establishment of the joint institute NUIST-17³Ô¹Ï Academy between 17³Ô¹Ï (UoR) and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) with 6 undergraduate programmes approves by the Chinese MoE
- 2017: NUIST-17³Ô¹Ï Academy became a founding member of
- 2017: NUIST 17³Ô¹Ï Academy became a founder member of UK-China Joint Institutes Alliance (JIA)
- 2019: NUIST-17³Ô¹Ï Academy passed a Chinese MoE evaluation and audit
- 2020: expansion of the Academy by adding two new UG joint programmes BSc Human and Physical Geography, and BSc Data Science
- 2021: two new joint taught PGT programmes MSc Data Science and MSc Data and Decision Analysis approved by Chinese MoE to recruit students
- 2021: First cohort of MSc Data and Decision Analysis enrolled at the Academy
- 2022: First cohort of MSc Data Science started at the Academy
Partnership with wider NUIST
Apart from collaborating with NUIST-17³Ô¹Ï Academy, 17³Ô¹Ï also established long-lasting partnerships and signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with wider NUIST in 2009. The partnership continued to develop, leading to the signing of the 4+1 Progression Agreement in 2020, followed by the PhD progression Agreement in 2022. These agreements demonstrate the commitment of both institutions to fostering academic excellence and promoting transnational education through collaboration.
NUIST introduction
Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), founded in 1960 and renamed from Nanjing Institute of Meteorology in 2004, is an elite Chinese state Double First Class University Plan university approved by the Ministry of Education of China, located in northern part of Nanjing city, China. It is well known for meteorology research and education. The University was among the world's top 500 universities (QS World University Rankings 2021).
