Research
The NUIST 17³Ô¹Ï research partnership is a unique collaboration that builds on existing research connections between the two institutions, both being world leaders in meteorology. Each has strong links with the wider scientific community: NUIST is one of the Regional Meteorological Training Centres (RMTCs) for the World Meteorological Organisation; 17³Ô¹Ï is one of the leading contributors of scientific expertise to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
This shared research agenda led to NUIST hosting a 3-day international research conference in April 2018, focusing on meteorology and environmental science. This event brought researchers from around the UK to China and established the NUIST 17³Ô¹Ï Research Institute (NRRI) to facilitate ensuing collaborations. NUIST and 17³Ô¹Ï share a belief in the benefits of a collaborative approach to research, addressing global challenges. The NRRI supports joint research between academics from each institution; both sides have made a substantial financial contribution to pump-prime projects and relationships.
