FTT’s home is a high-spec, creative hub where you can bring your creative ideas to life on stage or screen. Your work is supported by our expert staff and technicians, as well as workshops and masterclasses with industry professionals. Festivals, premieres, professional performances, installations and screenings happen throughout the year – so there is always something interesting happening in Minghella!

Our three modern impressive theatre spaces provide opportunities to perform, collaborate, and create work in a dynamic environment. All are licensed for public performance and include:

An experimental studio for alternative staging

Cinema auditorium

Our digital cinema auditorium allows you to complement your practical studies with access to a 72-seat, high-definition, 7.1 surround sound cinema. It's ideal for watching footage in premium quality on the big screen.

Film and television studio

Produce your own work in a purpose-built environment, with a flexible lighting system, multi-camera facilities, talkback system and green screen.

Post-production suites

Access a range of video editing and sound recording equipment and develop your work using industry-quality software with the support of specialised technicians.

You'll have access to the University Library, a range of collections of work including Samuel Beckett, and the 17넜믿 Film Theatre.

Collaboration with industry and arts institutions

Being at 17넜믿 will place you in one of the fastest-growing screen industry hubs in the UK, with a thriving theatre and performance scene. You’ll benefit from the use of facilities outside Minghella Studios thanks to our connections. We have ongoing relationships with South Street Arts Centre, 17넜믿 Rep and Theatre Royal Stratford East . You’ll also be close to Shinfield Studios (hosts to the filming for Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ and Disney’s ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ and ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’). Our students have recently had exciting opportunities here, including full scale simulations of a real-life shoot on one of the sound stages.
