Through individual and design studio projects, and lectures, you’ll deepen your understanding of core subjects and enhance your practical and creative skills.
Professional Accreditation
Our BSc (Hons) Architecture degree is prescribed by the , meeting Part 1 of the requirements for professional architecture qualification. It is also validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), as a formal recognition of its high professional standards.

You’ll collaborate with your peers on imaginative design projects, participate in lively discussions about designing responsibly, and hone your critical thinking and creative techniques in our studios and workshops.
95% of our students said the course is often intellectually stimulating (National Student Survey 2024, 94.74% of responders from the School of Architecture). In addition, 92% of our students said the library resources (such as books, online services and learning spaces) have supported their learning well (National Student Survey 2024, 91.67% of responders from the School of Architecture).
Outstanding facilities
You’ll have seven-day-a-week access to your own designated desk and creative space in a secure design studio. This dedicated workspace allows you to work uninterrupted on your projects, with no need to pack up at the end of each day – ensuring a more efficient and immersive way of working.
You will also benefit from specialised workshops:

- drawing and mapping in the field
- model and architectural photography
- concrete and plaster casting
- 3D printing
- vacuum forming
- laser cutting.
How you’ll learn
Our programme blends design studio projects and lecture-based learning for a well-rounded architectural education. You will:
- collaborate with your peers on innovative projects and develop your creative ideas in your personal studio space
- present your ideas to, and get constructive feedback from, peers, academics, and external professionals during review sessions called critiques (crits)
- attend lectures by renowned architects and specialists who are frequently invited as guest lecturers
- participate in live making projects with designers, engineers, and fabricators at Cake Industries, helping you develop your practical and innovative thinking
- explore architectural structures across a range of scales, experiencing architecture from varied cultures and eras in the UK and abroad, guided by our academic staff
- visit construction sites and architectural practices to gain real-world experience.
Additionally, design tutorials will prepare you to respond to societal, environmental and technological challenges in the architectural profession.
In your final year, you’ll be able to showcase your work, including drawings, physical models, and computer-generated images, at our End of Year Show.
Placements and career development
Our course is designed to enhance your employability through opportunities to work on real projects with established architects, including through our Industry and Practice module. Past graduates have secured placements at practices like:

Scholarships
As part of the cohort joining the BSc Architecture course in 2025, you will have the opportunity to secure an annual £1,000 scholarship for each of your three years of the undergraduate degree.
